and other important happenings

May 29th-2008- So it's been a really long time since anything has been updated on this site. All that should be taken care of after today. I don't think there is anyone who checks this site other than me anyway. I've been really busy this past year. Ungentlemanly Act was finished and I am just sort of handing you a copy if you ask for one or selling them at the occasional show. Speaking of shows, I have been kind of slow in that department this year, more than usual. for algernon has returned to a basic trio of Tim, Chris and I and we've been playing a few shows here and there to get used to the format and see how far we can push the limits to it being just the three of us. I think we may need one more but a string or horn player, or both, keys are a plus. I really enjoy it because it's loose and everyone of us shines in this setting in each song. We played a Beatles Tribute, A Prince Tribute ( which was, the most fun this year, i am sorry if you missed this, it was for algernon as you had never seen before; complete with feedback, me doing guitar riffs and jumping and screaming) A 70's tribute and then we finally played a show of our own stuff  earlier this month at the Fair Play/Fair Trade Fest at Rohs Street Cafe, our first set of for algernon songs since november of 07.

Work is well on its way, 70% complete, on the new record which is called "consequence of change" for now. it's a return to a familiar sound/vibe but not so much its style. there is inspiration from old school r&b, johnny cash and 70's singer/songwriters throughout along with the normal stuff i bring in with me. the theme of this one is about going after what you want without regrets and dealing with the consequences of changing yourself to get it (both good and bad). this is possibly the most upbeat sounding record since my first one a long time ago, meaning there are at least 3 uptempo songs.  here are some of the titles:

1. adrift  2. bad ear honey  3. sons or daughter  4. all or nothing  5. oh philadelphia  6. close behind  7. numb  8. trampoline

9. you know what to do  10. forgetful mind/unforgiving kind 11. jill believe in me  12. you might like it here

at the myspace page you can listen to bad ear honey and  jill, believe in me.

okay, well i think i am going camping this weekend and if thing go right i might be watching Harold & Maude today for the first time.
